much-needed advice via stumble upon
“If you only look through your rear-view mirror, you’re going to crash.”
I should really always remember this advice but I occasionally get especially caught up in reflecting on the past and thinking about what I could have changed. I know that reflecting on things that have happened in the past is an important way to improve your future but I think I might be too good at it. Especially when I’m stuck on a couch for four days because of a bacterial virus. Thankfully this advice in the form of a quote came to me via my new favorite habit, stumbling, the night before I make my comeback to the real world. While I don’t completely know what I believe in in terms of God, religion, destiny, etc., I do place some stock in horoscopes, coincedences, and being in the right place at the right time kind of stuff. No matter what, I appreciate the timing of this advice’s appearance, as it gives me the night to think about it and really process it before I get up off the couch and continue my life. I know that it won’t be an instant life alteration, it will take time and it will take reminding but I hope to make even a tiny step in learning how to balance my habit of looking at the past with my goal to look to the future.
